Description
The West Gate of Southampton (1338) and the attached Cloth Merchants' Hall. This gate originally opened directly to the sea and Henry V's army marched through it in 1415 en route to Agincourt and eventually, of course, Castillon, and the foolish attempt to conquer France. It's now well inland.
